Each wooden boat in our care is a living piece of Norwegian maritime craft, preserved and sailed by our community in Son.
Our fleet comprises traditional wooden sloops, clinker-built rowboats, workboats, and motor vessels. Each has a documented history and is actively maintained by our volunteer craftspeople.
Built by a master shipwright in Son in 1928, Svalen is a quintessential Norwegian coastal gaff sloop. With robust oak frames and pine planking, she sailed the outer Oslofjord for decades. Restored to full seaworthiness by our volunteer team, she is our primary training vessel for traditional sailing.
A classic Norwegian clinker-built wooden boat constructed during wartime for local coastal fishing and transport. Extremely nimble and stable, Haapet is used regularly for youth rowing courses and harbor tours during coastal heritage festivals.
A vintage Norwegian snekke featuring a traditional single-cylinder FM marine engine. Currently undergoing bottom plank replacement, re-caulking, and engine overhaul in our workshop. Volunteers meet weekly to advance this restoration.
Designed for heavy weather in the Skagerrak, this double-ended wooden pilot cutter is renowned for her exceptional sea-keeping qualities. She stands as a proud testament to the courage of the coastal pilots who guided commercial ships into Son.

We welcome both experienced carpenters and complete beginners who simply want to get their hands on a plane and smell pine tar.
