All our activities are run by dedicated volunteers and open to anyone who wants to learn, contribute, or experience coastal life.
We maintain, repair, and restore traditional Norwegian clinker-built and carvel-built wooden boats at the Son Kystkultursenter boatyard. Volunteers learn steam bending, wood caulking, copper riveting, and linseed oil treatments.
Our regular 'Dugnad' sessions bring together people of all backgrounds. There are tasks for everyone — from heavy woodworking to painting, rigging, inventory documentation, and preparing shared coastal meals.
Every season, we host and participate in traditional boat regattas, harbor days, and cultural heritage gatherings that fill the Son waterfront with historic sails, sea shanties, and local culinary traditions.
Learn the art of sailing traditional gaff-rigged and square-sail boats. We organize sailing outings in the Oslofjord where members practice coastal navigation, rope handling, and sail trimming without modern electronics.
Connecting local schoolchildren and youth groups with maritime history, marine biology, and boat safety. We offer guided harbor walks and introductory rowing lessons in traditional wooden boats.
